Board of Directors

Paul Ryan

Paul Seamus Ryan is a food enthusiast who, in addition to serving as the Board Chair and committed volunteer for Common Good, also teaches cooking classes at ArtSpace DC, volunteers for the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, shops regularly at local farmers markets, spends a lot of time cooking for friends and family and also spends time behind a camera photographing food and anything else that catches his attention.  He makes his living as an attorney for the nonprofit Campaign Legal Center, a DC-based voting rights and election reform organization.

Dana Bryson

Dana H. Bryson was raised by wolves in Colorado and finds great joy and relaxation nature. She is a Master Gardener, a Master Composter and a lover of all plants and animals. Although she once had a small landscaping business in the Colorado mountains, for the last 10 years she has worked in senior leadership for US cities. Most recently, she was Chief of Staff to Washington, DC City Administrator, Mr. Robert C. Bobb and was a key member of Mayor William’s senior leadership team. She also worked on the Cabinet of Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper and was Chief of Staff for Mayor Jerry Brown in the City of Oakland, California.

In addition to being on the Board of Directors of Common Good City Farm, she is the Vice-Chair of the Board of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival, and is on the Board of the Howard Theater. Ms. Bryson and her puppy, Azuli, currently reside in LeDroit Park.

Kenan Dunson

Kenan’s first job was to get up at the crack of dawn to work in his grandfather’s (and in most of his neighbor's) gardens in rural VA. It was in those gardens that Kenan developed an appreciation for food less traveled and for hands-on hard work. Kenan presently consults with the US Government on acquisition policy, procedure and oversight and most enjoys eating good food!

In addition to being on the Board of Common Good City Farm, Kenan is an elected member of his condominium association board and Vice President of the LeDroit Park Civic Association. Kenan was born and raised in Washington DC, currently lives in LeDroit Park, and is responsible for the cool aerial photos seen on this web site.

Stephanie Slewka

Stephanie Slewka was born in the US but grew up in Belgium and rural parts of the Netherlands, where neighbors gleaned sugar beets and potatoes in the fall, and where milk cows were pets.  A documentary filmmaker, she’s an active neighbor and mother in Shaw, where her daughter is growing tall as a weed.  She’s been a supporter of Common Good City Farm since early days on 7th Street.

Lea Sloan

A former professional farmer from New England (commercial hay business and dairy heifers), Lea has been leading the city life for more than 20 years as a public relations executive in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, West Palm Beach and most recently, D.C. for 7 years as VP of Communications at PBS. She has been an avid gardener since childhood, currently with ambitious-sized vegetable and perennial gardens in a constant cycle of renovation, planting and harvest at her cottage on the Eastern Shore, where she also volunteers for the Phillips Wharf Environmental Center and is a member of Tilghman Island Artists group. In DC, she lives in the DuPont Circle area with her husband -- and nurtures a very small roof-deck garden for a little urban green.

Natalia López-Hurst

Natalia is the Deputy Director of a human rights leadership program. Her career has been dedicated to working with marginalized communities in the U.S. towards achieving social justice. She has served on several non-profit boards and is a proud feminist foodie. Natalia spends her evenings eating delicious food her husband enthusiastically cooks. She dreams of building a house in Puerto Rico where they can have a garden and chickens. Natalia grew up in Brooklyn, NY and has always been interested in food, wine, and chocolate and believes family and food are essential for happiness. Having been raised in a working class household she whole-heartedly supports the mission of Common Good City Farm and is extremely excited to be a part of such a vibrant food community.

Genevieve Villamora

Genevieve Villamora grew up on eggplants, tomatoes, raspberries and other fresh food grown in her parents' backyard garden in Chicago. That experience and the years spent watching her mother cook daily meals from scratch form the foundation of her interest and commitment to U.S. foodways and local, accessible and sustainable food systems.

Genevieve is a seasoned community organizer who has spent the past decade working with diverse communities in the Washington, DC area to promote social change. Her experience in the local non-profit community spans a wide range of issues, including community-university partnerships, women’s advocacy, public policy research, urban agriculture, community-based arts, and social justice philanthropy.

Genevieve has also consulted with non-profit arts organizations in the DC area around issues of organizational development, board development, strategic planning, and program implementation. Genevieve has a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
